Welcome to GUST

Support and motivation for the youth of Northumberland
THE GUST MISSION STATEMENT

Staff, children, parents and carers work together in an atmosphere of mutual respect and trust in a community that is strengthened and enriched by a diversity of background, culture and religion. Our priority is to foster the self-confidence, self-esteem and independence of all in a climate of growth and opportunity that will enable us to achieve the highest standards. We actively promote a healthy environment in which young people enjoy learning and developing the skills needed to become responsible members of society.

We aim to bring learning to life.

“We invest not only in the future of the children & young people at gust but also in the future of the organisation by working together as a cohesive partnership to achieve positive progression and development.”

Philip Gallagher, Head Teacher

About Us …

In 2016 OFSTED rated us a GOOD school.

Established in 2004, we are a non-profitable charitable organisation who educate and train children and young people excluded or at risk of exclusion from mainstream education. We currently run two projects GetUStartedTogether for 5-11 year old children and GetUStartedTraining for 12-17 year old young people.

Our Aim

  • To raise the self-esteem of learners, by creating a secure, supportive environment.
  • To overcome barriers towards learning.
  • To raise expectations for learner performance.
  • To use praise and encouragement.
  • To foster independent learners.
